Autism

Autism is a neurobiological disorder that effects 1 in 54 children as having autism spectrum disorder (ASD) according to the world health statistics.  There are varying degrees of autism, some children are very capable and potentially gifted, whereas others have learning difficulties.  There are also varying degrees of language from superior language skills through to children who are non-verbal and have minimal communication.  Children with ASD typically have a range of sensory processing difficulties with sensitivity to light, sound, clothing and foods.  They can also have difficulties with their play and interactions with other children.

If you suspect that you child has Autism please contact your doctor for a referral to a Paediatrician.  A Paediatrician will then refer you to Psychology, Speech Pathology and/or Occupational Therapy for further assessment.
