The SOS Approach to Feeding

Many children go through a picky phase during their development. Most children overcome this and build their tolerated foods to include a wide variety of nutritionally needed foods. For some children, this does not happen.

The SOS Approach to feeding will help identify Picky Eaters vs. Problem Feeders. If your child is a persistent picky eater or a problem feeder, they may require support to learn how to eat a more varied diet. This program is based on the “normal” developmental steps, stages and skills of feeding found in typically developing children. The SOS Approach focuses on reducing anxiety and building the child’s comfort level by exploring and learning about the different properties of food. This program teaches the child to interact with food in a playful, non-stressful way. One of the first steps is tolerating food in the same room or at the table in front of them. This then builds to the child eventually exploring tastes and eating new foods.

Our SOS trained clinician aims to help even the fussiest children.
